RAILWAY LINE KORINTHOS - NAFPLION (ARGHOS - MILI NAFPLIOU):
On 19 April 1882, a contract was signed between the Minister of Interior Charilaos Trikoupis and Ioannis Doumas, director of the General Credit Bank, for the construction of a 1 meter wide line, which would connect Pireas and Athens with Patra, through Korinthos, but also Korinthos with the Mili of Nafplion and Nafplion. This contract was ratified by the Parliament on 22 June 1882 and provided for the establishment of a Societe Anonyme Share Company, under the name Sidirodromi Pireos - Athinon - Peloponnisou SPAP (Piraeus-Athens-Peloponnese Railways), which had the right to construct and operate the line. On 16 April 1886, the section Korinthos - Arghos - Nafplion was delivered, with a length of 64,422 km, while on 4 August 1886 the fork from Arghos to Mili Nafpliou with a length of 9,669 km was delivered. The kilometer numbering of the stations and stops started from the Korinthos station. For the fork to Nafplion, the numbering started from the station of Arghos, where the fork was located. In 1963 the traffic was interrupted in the Arghos - Nafplion section. In December 2010 the operation of the Korinthos - Nafplion and Mili Nafpliou stopped, but the reopening of the Korinthos - Nafplion section is in immediate plans. In 2011, the movement of trains on the lines of the Peloponnese (except for the rack railway Diakopto - Kalavrita) stopped, because the network was considered economically unprofitable to continue.
