PIRAEUS-ATHENS-PELOPONNESE RAILWAYS: The Sidirodromi Pireos - Athinon - Peloponnisou, known by the acronym SPAP, were established as a company on 1 December 1882 with the main project being the construction and operation of the Pireas - Patra line with a fork in Korinthos to Nafplion, as provided for in the contract of 19 April 1882. The company would have a lifespan of 99 years, with a share capital of 25.300.000 drachmas, divided into 92.000 shares of a nominal value of 275 drachmas. With subsequent contracts they also undertook the operation of the lines Patra - Pirghos, Diakopto - Kalavrita, Pirghos - Olimpia, Kavassila - Kilini, Vartholomio - Loutra Kilinis, Pirghos - Kiparissia - Meligala, Isthmos - Loutraki, Lefktron - Megalopolis and Asprochoma - Messini. In 1899 they absorbed the EMSE, integrating in its network the line Mili Nafpliou - Kalamata. With the establishment of SEK on 18 March 1920, SPAP was included in them, but in 1922 they were detached and reopened as an independent company again. In 1929 they bought from SA the line Iraklio - Lavrio and connect it with the Piraeus - Corinth line with a junction at Aghioi Anarghiri station. In 1951 the SPK and in 1953 the SVDE belong to SPAP. In 1962 the SPAP are finally consolidated with the SEK.
