RAILWAY LINE VOLOS - MILIES: After the construction of two main lines, which connected Volos with the cities of Thessaly, comes the proposal for the connection of Volos with the villages of southern Pelion. On 26 May 1893, was signed the contract for the construction of a railway line 0,6 meters wide, which would connect Volos with Agria and Lechonia and the operation would be undertaken by the company Sidirodromi Thessalias STHS (Thessaly Railways). On 12 October 1895, the Volos - Lechonia line was inaugurated. On 26 February 1900 a contract was signed for the construction and operation of the extension of the line to Milies. On 8 April 1900 this contract was ratified by law. On 2 July 1903 it was delivered to traffic the section Lechonia - Milies. In 1971 it was decided to stop the services on the Pelion route. Since 1987, however, the Volos - Agria route has been sporadically reopened, which soon stopped again. In 1996, the route Lechonia - Milies began to operate as a tourist tour, which continues to current days.
