RAILWAY LINE PIRGHOS - KIPARISSIA - MELIGALA:
On 19 March 1900, a contract was signed by Georgios Theotokis (Minister), P. Skouzes (SPAP) and S.Streit (National Bank of Greece) for the construction of the Pirghos - Kiparissia line with a branch in Kalonero to Meligala with width of 1 meter. The contract was ratified by law of the Parliament on 8 April 1900. In September 1902 the line Pirghos - Kiparissia - Meligala with a length of 95 km was completed. The numbering of the network started from Pirghos and ended in Kiparissia. For the section Kalonero - Meligala, the numbering started from Meligala and ended in Kalonero. In 2011 the network was deemed unprofitable to continue operating and the traffic of trains on the lines of the Peloponnese stoped (except the rack railway line Diakopto - Kalavrita).
