RAILWAY LINE THESSALONIKI - MONASTIRI: On 28 October 1890, a contract was signed between Raif Pasha as Minister of Commerce of the Ottoman Government and Alfred Kaulla director of the Wurttembergische Vereinsbank of Stuttgart, for the construction and operation of a regular-gauge (1,435 meters) railway line, which would connect Thessaloniki with the Monastiri (current name Vitola). The total length of the line would be 219 km with 204 km be located within Greece (as it is today). The works began in June 1891 and were completed in 1894. The operation of the line would be undertaken by the company with name Enosi Othomanikon Sidirodromon Thessalonikis - Monastiriou S.M. In June 1916 the control and command of the line passed to the allied troops (English and French) and in February 1920 the line was officially handed over to the Greek State, which bought it in 1925. On 14 March 1918 completed the construction of the unifying line Axios - Ghefira, with thewhich joined the lines Thessaloniki - Monastiri and Thessaloniki - Skoplje, without the need for the train to enter in the city of Thessaloniki. On 18 March 1920, the line was subject to the SEK. On 22 May 1928, a contract was signed for the construction of a junction from Messonission to the city of Florina, which was completed in 1932. In January 1951 began the construction of the line of normal range, from Aminteon to Komanos and then to Kozani, with a length of 59 km line, which was completed on 30 January 1955.
