RAILWAY LINE STRIMON - KOULATA: In 1943 the construction of the regular gauge line began, connecting Sidirokastro with Koulata in Bulgaria and then with Sofia. The line was 17,5 km long, of which 16,1 km were on Greek territory. In 1951 the line was dismantled, and reconstructed in 1966 from Strimon station to Koulata 14 km long. The kilometer numbering starts from Strimon station.
