ELECTRIC TRANSPORT COMPANY: On 16 October 1925, the processes for the integration of the transport networks in Attica began. The SAP, the SA and the Athens-Piraeus-Suburb tramway Company cooperated with an English group of capitalists (Power and Traction Finance Company) with as a result, on 1 April 1926, the Ilektriki Eteria Metaforon (HEM) and EHS were founded. The main project of the HEM was the operation of Athina - Kifisia railway line, as well as the athens tramway lines (not including the lines of Piraeus or the coastal front). The initial capital of the company was £340.000, divided into 340.000 shares with a nominal value of £1 each. On 23 July 1954, the HEM granted the right to operate and electrify the Athens line (from Attica Square) to Kifissia. In fact, the HEM ceased to have a railway project and was managed only by trams, buses and trolley buses. On 14 December 1970 a legislative decree is signed (Legislative Decree 768/70) which takes over the HEM by the Greek state with the simultaneous establishment of a new company under the name Electric Buses of the Athens-Piraeus area (HLPAP), which was a legal entity of private law.
