HELLENIC RAILWAYS COMPANY: On 26 February1902, baron G. de Reuter founded as a representative of the trade union Eastern Railway Construction Syndicate Ltd., J. Gouin president of the construction company Batignolles and the English banker E. Erlanger, the Eteria Ellinikon Sidirodromon (EES), with a share capital of 10.000.000 drachmas. Company had as main project the exploitation, but also the completion of the construction of the network Pireas - Demerli - Papapouli with intersections in Inoi to Chalkis and in Lianokladi to Stilis. The company became known as the "Larissaikos Railway". On 14 January 1914, the Greek state acquired the EES from the construction company Batignolles instead of the amount of 13.000.000 drachmas. On 14 March 1918, the Papapouli - Plati section was included in the company's network. Due to financial problems that the company hud but also the SPAP, with law 2144 of 18 March 1920, the two companies merged and created the SEK, which take over the operation of all the networks of the two companies.
